Exploring the Physical Abuser & Sexual Offender:
Understanding the Offender's Personality, Behavior, & Typology
Addressing Forensic Considerations for Law Enforcement, Probation, Judges,
Prosecutors, & Psychologists
For over 15 years Mr. Johnson has been educating law enforcement,
probation, prosecutors, and forensic mental health professionals
about sexual predators and physically violent people.
This two-day
training will address sexual offenders and physical abusers.
It is important
to understand the characteristics and thinking processes of offenders in order
to facilitate an effective investigation, arrest, interrogation, conviction,
treatment, and possible lifetime civil commitment. It is also important to
understand factors and behaviors that help contribute to abuse and sexual
offending, including personality characteristics, psychopathy, alcohol
use/abuse, and the use of pornography. Male & female abuser and sex
offender typologies will be discussed. Interviewing techniques and profiling
strategies will also be discussed. Psychotropic medication may be addressed
as time allows. This training was designed for law enforcement, judges,
prosecution, probation and parole, and professionals involved in forensic
mental health & treatment. A one-day training is also available (see "Course
Content" page). The National Judicial Education Program for Legal Momentum
is using Mr. Johnson’s textbook to educate Judges about sexual offenders
(www.
njep-ipsacourse.org).
